I've been working freelance for three years now, and I realized how important it is to be surrounded by people who got a learner mindset and be in a nurturing and supportive environment that encourages growth, whether personally or professionally. I'm fortunate to have worked with a few superiors who are like mentors to me. And while I cannot confidently say yet that I can be a mentor to someone, I wish to help others see the importance of mentorship. I'm curious to know how you found the right mentor and what's the most valuable thing you learned from him or her?

Agreed brotha, having a growth minded mentor can make a huge difference. I found my mentor by networking and being open to learning from people with more experience. The biggest lesson I learned was how important mindset is especially staying curious and adaptable. It really shapes both personal and professional growth

Same here, didn't go looking for a mentor, just crossed paths with someone early on who challenged my thinking and gave honest feedback, my biggest takeaway? make decisions based on principles, not pressure and you don't need to be a pro to be a mentor

It's awesome you've had such a positive experience with mentorship in your career so far! I can personally attest that having a good mentor can make a huge difference! I found my mentor in a previous job. We weren't even on the same team, but I was leading a cross-functional project that she was a stakeholder in. She was so sharp and had such a clear vision for how to handle complex situations. I made it a point to just ask her if she'd be willing to chat with me sometimes about my career and some of the challenges I was facing. She said yes, and we've been meeting once a quarter ever since! The most valuable thing she's taught me isn't about project management specifics, but rather about the power of strategic thinking. She helped me see the bigger picture and understand that my role isn't just about managing tasks and timelines, but about influencing outcomes and aligning with business goals. It's completely changed how I approach my work and my career!
