I see so many articles blaming the employee for doing the bare minimum and phoning it in so they say but honestly, after managing projects across different teams, I’m starting to think it’s not an employee problem but more of a leadership and expectations failure
When people check out and only do exactly what's required, it usually means their job isn't giving them anything back and they just aren't connected to the project's bigger why, their hard work isn't recognized, or they feel completely burned out from endless scope creep that wasn't properly compensated or acknowledged
A team that feels valued and connected to the outcome simply doesn't quit quietly, they stick around and fight for the project because the minute they feel transactional, they become transactional and it happens
