Keeping teams aligned with core principles throughout the project

One thing I’ve noticed is that it’s easy for teams to start off strong, fully aligned with the project’s core principles, but as the work picks up and deadlines close in, that alignment can slip. Priorities shift, shortcuts get taken, and the original guiding principles end up taking a back seat to “just getting it done.” cos I manage a team and projects so I can really attest so for those of us managing projects,

What specific strategies do you use to keep your teams focused on those core principles from kickoff all the way through to delivery? do you build in regular check ins, use certain tools, or have cultural practices that make it stick?

Happens to almost every team. The energy at kickoff is high, but as deadlines close in, principles can quietly slip away.
What’s helped us is building alignment into the routine rather than relying on reminders.
  • We do quick “principle check-ins” at key milestones to make sure we’re still on track.
  • We turn core principles into clear, everyday actions so they don’t stay as slogans.
  • And most importantly, leaders set the tone by sticking to those principles even when things get hectic.
It’s not about big speeches; it’s about making it part of how the team works daily.

Regular, short check-ins where the team reflects on why they're doing things a certain way helps, @Sandeep.K I agree with him. Culture wise, celebrating decisions that align with the principles, even small ones
